Yellow Number 5 Sculpture

by Herb Williams
ITEM NUMBER 45583
$5,800.00
Based upon “The Great Figure” poem (1921) by William Carlos Williams, this sculpture is inspired by the words: "Among the rain and lights I saw the figure 5 in gold on a red fire truck moving tense unheeded to gong clangs siren howls and wheels rumbling through the dark city". While artist Charles Demuth then painted "The Figure 5 in Gold" in 1928, based upon his interpretation of the poem, this piece, by Herb Williams, is an homage to both of them, along with a nod to all of the mysterious additives filling today’s foods and drinks. Made from crayons, wood, and industrial adhesive. Measures 15" x 15" x 22".
